NEWMAN GROVE - Jake Lipp earned the runner-up medal at the Newman Grove/St. Edward Holiday Invitational on Dec. 30 as the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge wrestling team returned to the mat after the state mandated moratorium.
The Bears’ 190-pounder pinned his way to the finals before falling in the title bout to Lukes Allen of Crawford in a second period pin.
Battle Creek ran away with the team title after scoring 246 points, Boone Central and Cedar Catholic tied for second with 133.5 points.
LCC posted 16 points which put the Bears 16th in the 19-team field.
Weston Patefield (138), Alex Allison (165) and Paul Allison (175) also competed in the meet.
LCC will return to the mat at the Winside Invitational on Jan. 9.
