ORD - The Cardinal wrestling team competed in the Ord Holiday Duals Invitational on Dec. 30 which was wrestled in a poll format with Randolph wrestling in Pool B along with O’Neill, Central City and Ord.
The Cards tied Ord 30-30 and were defeated by O’Neill 41-29 and Central City 60-18 then went on to wrestle Adams Central from Pool A and were edged out 34-30.
Bentley Reimers at 113 pounds continued his winning ways after the break, coming away from the day with four wins and four pins.
Talyn Meyer at 126 went 3-1 with a forfeit, a decision and a pin, as did Cole Jensen at 132 who posted a forfeit, a decision and a technical fall.
Tate Brodersen was also 3-1 at 150 pounds, but registered three pins in his wins two of the falls were while he was trailing in the match.
Brodersen was trailing Ian Yates of O’Neill 7-2 when he turned him over for the pin and was behind Dakota Wolever of Adams Central in the second period 15-3 when he put him on his back.
Cole Jensen at 138, Elijah Bermel at 157 and Trey Tjaden at 144 all went 2-2 in the tournament.
Kamdin Worlein was 1-0 for the day after registering a forfeit.
The Randolph Lady Cardinal will get back on the mat on Jan. 8 in the High Plains Girls Wrestling Tournament at the Columbus Fieldhouse while the Cardinals are set to wrestle in the Winside Invitational on Jan. 9.
