WINNEBAGO - The Randolph Lady Cardinal wrestling team opened the 2026 portion of the season at the Winnebago Lady Invitational Jan. 2 where they scored 17 points in the biggest meet of the season.
Lexington won the 39-team invite with 159.5 points, Millard South was second with 151.5, Omaha Westside was third.
Randolph 135-pounder Gracie Wortman brought home some hardware for her work on the day after placing sixth.
She opened the tournament with a first-round loss but then parlayed three consecutive falls to find herself in the consolation semifinals.
She lost that match to wind up in the fifth-place match where she was defeated by a 4-1 decision to Grace Hoffman of Norfolk High.
Peyton Thelen at 130 pounds won a couple of matches in the tournament, both of the wins were by fall.
Mabel Ngebeh and Maddy Aulner also competed in the tournament.
The Lady Cards will return to competition in the High Plains Community Invitational on Jan. 8 at the Columbus Fieldhouse.
