CROFTON — Wynot fell behind early and could not recover as the Lady Blue Devils were defeated by Crofton 43-37 in first-round action of the Crofton Holiday Tournament.
The Lady Warriors were led by Jaisie Janssen with 20 points, while Seanna Pinkelman added 15 points.
Crofton’s defense limited Wynot early, holding the Lady Blue Devils to just one field goal in the opening quarter as Crofton jumped out to an 8-2 lead behind seven points from Janssen.
Wynot’s offensive struggles continued in the second quarter, though Haley Wieseler provided a spark with two field goals and two free throws. Crofton countered with four points each from Addison Ostermeyer and Janssen, along with a three-pointer from Pinkelman, to take a 19-10 lead into halftime.
The Lady Blue Devils attempted to rally in the third quarter behind nine points from Kenna Oligmueller, but Crofton answered with two three-pointers from Pinkelman and five more points from Janssen to maintain a 32-21 advantage heading into the final period.
Wynot made its strongest push in the fourth quarter as Addison Sharpe hit a pair of three-pointers and Oligmueller added five more points, but Crofton held on with four points apiece from Jaycee Anthony and Janssen, along with another three-pointer from Pinkelman, to secure the 43-37 win.
Oligmueller led Wynot with 15 points, while Sharpe, Makenzie Foxhoven and Wieseler each finished with six points.

MADISON, S.D. — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils crossed the river Saturday for an interstate matchup in Madison, South Dakota, but couldn’t keep pace late as Luverne, Minnesota, pulled away for a 37-24 win. The game was competitive through three quarters before the Lady Cardinals used their size advantage to take control in the fourth. Wynot struggled to score inside, relying heavily on perimeter shooting and finishing with few second-chance points.
Haley Wieseler led Wynot with 10 points, while Kenna Oligmueller added seven points and seven rebounds. Luverne was led by Tanya Johnson’s 16-point effort, with Lucy Bock contributing nine points.
Wieseler opened the game with a pair of 3-pointers and Jordan Foxhoven added a putback for Wynot, but Luverne answered with five points from Johnson and a 3-pointer by Khloe Visker to take a 12-8 lead after one quarter.
Defense dominated the second quarter as Luverne got five points from Bock and a pair of layups from Brielle J ordan. Wynot counters came from an Oligmueller 3-pointer and a low-block basket by Taylor Pinkelman, but the Lady Blue Devils trailed 21-15 at halftime.
Both teams struggled offensively in the third quarter. Taylor Johnson scored all six of Luverne’s points, while Wynot got a 3-pointer from Oligmueller and a basket-plusone from Addison Sharpe, keeping the deficit at six entering the final period.
Wynot went cold in the fourth quarter as Luverne sealed the win with 3-pointers by Johnson and Ingrid Schmidt to secure the 37-24 victory.
