RANDOLPH — The Randolph School Board Monday approved the renewal of Supt. Jeff Hoesing’s two-year contract.
The $118,500 yearly salary provides for a $3,000 raise over Hoesing’s previous contract. The school website contains all details about the contract.
Also Monday, the board announced the result of bidding for three projects for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, with an approximate $106,000 low bidder selected from four bids.
Johnson Controls will complete the work of two stages of three projects put out for bids. The board decided to advance the first two stages of the project for a combined cost of approximately $64,000.
The first portion will amount to $9,650. The proposed project includes designing, selecting and installing new Direct Digital Control Internet Web-based controls on the existing two air handling units in the school gym. The selected and installed DDC Control Systems must be compatible with a scalable to accommodate the DDC Control Systems to be selected and installed for the next two stages of the project and any future growth of the facilities. The DDC Control Systems installed must be able to operate together as one control system.
The initial project includes installing low voltage control wiring, engineered control drawings, installation, technician and programming labor, control system manuals and training the school maintenance staff.
This phase of the project will begin this school year. Substantial completion is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 1, 2016.
The school district will not pay overtime costs for the contractor for work on this project. The contractor will be responsible for any overtime incurred.
The second project will involve new climate controls at a cost of $54,300. The project will include removing all existing Direct Digital Control(DDC)InternetWeb-based controls in the facility and designing, selecting and installing new DDC Internet Web-based controls at selected locations in the facility anddesigning,selectingandinstalling new DDC Internet Web-based controls at selected locations in the facility.

ELGIN — The Randolph Cardinals wrestling team entered the EPPJ Invite Saturday with high hopes. They finished with two medals to add to their collection.
Junior Drew Loberg, 152, finished the day perfect as the class winner. Loberg opened the day with a first round bye before facing Elkhorn Valley’s Shawn Klinetobe. Loberg made quick work of his opponent pinning Klinetobe in 45-seconds.
Loberg’s next match was against Leland Bowder, Pender.
Loberg scored four points via a take down and near fall two in the first period, adding two more points via another takedown in the second. Bowder earned two points in the final period when he was able to take down Loberg. Loberg reversed the hold for his final points of the match, taking the 9-2 decision to move to the final round.
Loberg defeated Meridan’s Joshua Traynor via a pin 1:35 in the first period for the gold medal.
Alex Schmit, 120, finished with the bronze medal.

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Lady Cardinals advanced to 4-1 after taking out the visiting Bloomfield Queen Bees Thursday, 44-32.
The Lady Cardinals opened the game with a first frame 16-7 lead but found the troubling Bloomfield defense offsetting their rhythm as the game progressed.
Bloomfield stung back in the second frame to reel Randolph’s lead back in. As the teams left for the break, Randolph maintained a narrow 23-19 lead.
Only 12 points were scored in the third as both teams struggled to get anything firmly started with Randolph scoring eight.
The Lady Cardinals broke out in the final frame with 13 points to secure the 12 point victory.
Two Lady Cardinals finished with double-doubles on the night. Katelyn Backhaus scoring 18 points while pulling in 10 rebounds, and Carlee Thies, 11 points and 10 rebounds.
