LAUREL - After dropping the first two games of the season, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears reeled off four consecutive wins including two to finish out the pre-Holiday portion of the schedule.

LCC turned away Greater Northeast Activities Conference foe Plainview 59-44 on Dec. 19 in Laurel after disposing of the Ponca Lady Indians 52-44 on Dec. 16, also on the home court.

The Lady Bears jumped out in front of the Lady Pirates 15-7 at the end of the first eight minutes then extended the lead to 33-20 by the intermission.

Plainview trimmed the lead by a point in the third then the Lady Bears coasted to the 59-44 final score.

Rena Rasmussen led all scorers with 25 points including a 9-for-10 showing from the foul line.

She posted a double-double with 12 rebounds.

Kaida Eriksen added a dozen points and Carlie Kvols tossed in 10.

Hattie McCorkindale corralled seven missed shots, Eriksen handed out four assists and Kvols, Rasmussen and Eriksen each had five steals as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge forced 25 turnovers.

In the game against Ponca, the two teams matched each other point for point as they played to a 17-17 draw to close out the first frame.

The Lady Bears would go up six by the end of the first half, but Ponca responded coming out of the locker room and nibbled at the advantage making it a 4036 game heading into the final stanza.

LCC held serve and the final score was set.

Rasmussen had another fine game pouring in 26 points, canning 12-for-13 from the charity stripe and 7-for-13 from the floor.

She also hit another doubledouble after posting 13 rebounds.

Eriksen added nine points, Kvols handed out three assists and Karli Ferris swiped three steals.

The Lady Bears will take their 4-2 record south 15 minutes for the Northeast Shootout Jan. 29-31 at Wayne State College and Wayne High School
