PIERCE — The Randolph Lady Cardinal wrestling team traveled to Pierce for the Pierce Girls Wrestling Invitational Dec. 20 and rode the second-place finish of Gracie Wortman at 135 pounds to 31 team points which was good enough for 16th in the 23-team field.
Pierce won the team title with 140 points, Battle Creek was second with 115.5 and Blair was third with 113.5.
Wortman pinned her way to the finals with falls over Charlee McGargill of Crofton/Bloomfield in the opening round, Linda Sebastian of Schuyler in the quarterfinals and Megan Magnuson of Wayne in the semifinals.
Rylan Hansen swiped the title when she pinned Wortman in the championship bout.
Peyton Thelen scored some team points at 130 with a win in the consolation bracket after dropping her first match of the day.
She made it two straight in the consolation bracket with another win but was bounced from the tournament with a late match fall to Abygail Flores of Columbus.
Maddy Aulner competed for the Lady Cards at 170 pounds and won her first consolation match after losing in the first round.
The Lady Cardinals will open the 2026 portion of the schedule with an invitational at Winnebago on Jan. 2
