HUMPHREY — The Randolph Lady Cardinal basketball team closed out the 2025 portion of the schedule with a couple of losses to sit at 1-6 heading into the Holiday break and moratorium.
The Lady Cards dropped a game to Creighton in Randolph 60-15 on Dec. 16 then fell on the road to Archangels Catholic on Dec. 19 5612 in a game played in Humphrey.
Against the state-rated Defenders in Humphrey, the Lady Cardinals fell behind early 27-2 after the opening eight minutes and 50-2 at the half.
The Lady Redbirds did outscore the Archangels 10-6 in the second half but the game was decided.
Lilly Kuchta and Aniston Schmidt were the only two Randolph players to score in the game. Kuchta tallied seven points while Schmidt scored five.
Delayne Thelen handed out four assists and Kuchta and Braylee Kelley each had a couple of steals.
Earlier in the week, Creighton arrived in Randolph and left town with the 60-15 victory.
When the dust settled on the first half, the Lady Bulldogs were in charge, heading to the halftime locker room with a 36-10 advantage.
The Lady Redbirds managed just five points in the second half to slip to the 1-6 record.
Schmidt and Thelen led the Lady Card offense with five points apiece, Kelley added four and Olivia Rayford canned a free throw.
Kelley added five rebounds to her evening while Kynlee Winkelbauer corralled four missed shots.
The Lady Cardinals will ring in the New Year with a home date against Hartington-Newcastle on Jan. 2.
