St. Mary’s girls rally past Wynot

WYNOT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils controlled the tempo of their game with the O’Neill St. Mary’s Lady Cardinals for three quarters of the game Monday but the visitors mounted a fourth quarter rally to make of game of it before the gals in Blue prevailed by a 40-37 margin.

Hallie Wieseler led a balanced Lady Devils attack hitting a trio of three pointers on her way to 13 points. Adyson Peterson would take top scoring honors for the game connecting four times from three point range and ending up with 14 points for the Lady Cardinals.

Wynot got off to a fast early start as they got a three pointer each from Haley Wieseler, Mackenzie Foxhoven and Addyson Sharpe to push out to a 13-4 first quarter lead.

Tatum Ickes hit a three pointer for the Lady Cardinals in the second quarter but the Blue Devils did a little better and increased the halftime lead to 18-10 at halftime.

Adyson Petersen hit two more treys in the third quarter but the Lady Cardinals lost some more ground thanks to eight points from Haley Wieseler and five points from Tiara Sudbeck and Wynot had stretched their lead to 36-19 with one quarter of play left.

It was looking good for the Lady Blue Devils going into the final period but the Lady Cardinals would mount a furious rally and Wynot would go cold from the field and from the free throw line as well.
