Trio of Wildcats earn medals at Wisner meet

WISNER - Grady Lammers keeps rolling along for the Hartington-Newcastle wrestling team with another title individually at the Wisner-Pilger Invitational on Dec. 20.

The Wildcat 120-pounder pinned his way to the title taking just a little over four minutes on the entire day to collect his medal.

But he was far from the only ‘Cat scoring points as teammates Ty Opfer at 157 and Kyptin Collier at 215 each placed second.

Collier took his championship match with Kwyntin Kampa of Lyons-Decatur Northeast all the way to sudden-victory before falling 4-1 in the extra session. He took his two prior opponents by pin in the opening round and won a wild 21-16 decision over Josh Spray of Sandy Creek to advance to the final.

Opfer won his first match with a pin then outlasted Austin Pelster of Homer in the semi’s 5-2 before falling to Kamden Boyles of Superior in the finals, 5-0.

East Butler won the team title with 143.5 points, Neligh-Oakdale was second with 124 and GACC was third with 95.5 points.
