LCC girls compete in EV wrestling invitational

TILDEN - Elkhorn Valley hosted the Elkhorn Valley Girls Wrestling Invitational on Dec. 13 here in Tilden including the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bear wrestling squad.

Papillon-La Vista South won the team title with 165.5 points with Plainview/Osmond second with 146 and Ainsworth a distant third with 52.5.

The Lady Bears finished 10th with 12 points on the day.

Tae Settje was the top finisher for LCC taking third place at 120 pounds. She lost her first two matches but pinned Khloe Gordon of Papillion-La Vista South in 1:46 to take third.

Ava Christiansen was involved in one of the wildest matches of the day in her second round bout with a Plainview/Osmond wrestler which Christiansen lost, but the score was 19-14.

Grace Galvin placed sixth at 140 pounds.

The Lady Bears will head to Elgin Public/Pope John for a meet on Dec. 19 before breaking for Christmas.

Individual Result: 

120 - Tae Settje (3rd) was defeated by Katelyn Mosel (PLNV) by fall, 3:12; was defeated by Ariel Winter (PLVS) by fall, 2:39; defeated Khloe Gordon (PLVS) by fall, 1:46.

125 - Ava Christiansen was defeated by E. Peal (PLVS) by fall, 1:34; was defeated by A. Poellot (PLNV) by decision, 19-14. 140 - Grace Galvin (6th) was defeated by Madelyn Ritchie (PLVS) by fall, 1:52; was defeated by Megan Jones (AINS) by fall, 0:26; was defeated by Emerson Penne (ELKV) by fall 1:07; was defeated by Olivia Lafler (PLVS) by fall, 1:26; was defeated by Charley Pittet (PLNV) by fall, 0:26.
