STANTON - The Randolph Cardinal wrestling team made a good showing at the Stanton Invitational on Dec. 13 with the Cardinal’s ending up 6th in the team standings.
David City won the team title with 231.5 points, Pender was second with 157 and Plainview finished third. The Cards posted 104.5 points for sixth in the 20-team tournament.
Randolph earned first-place finishes from Bentley Reimers at 113 pounds and Tate Brodersen at 150.
Reimers pinned his way to a gold medal with three falls while Brodersen did the same thing at 150 pounds with three straight.
Cole Jensen at 138 ran into a buzzsaw in the finals after getting three straight falls to open the tournament.
Jensen ran into David City’s Hayden Schmit who pinned Jensen in the second period.
Josh Miller was fifth at 165 after wrestling all the way back from a first-round loss and Elijah Bermel was sixth at 157.
The Cards will return to the mat in a quadrangular at Pender Dec.
18 before heading into the Wisner- Pilger Tournament on Dec. 20.
