WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils suffered their first loss of season on Thursday night at the hands of the visiting West Point Guardian Angel Blue Jays. The Blue Devils would hang around in the first half but the Blue Jays went on a 34-20 second half run to pull away for the 64-47 win.
Wynot was led by Devin Brummer’s 21 point effort and Justin Heimes just missed double figures with nine points.
Guardian Angel’s Isaac Guenther would take scoring honors for the game hitting seven three pointers and ending with 26 points. Luke Guenther and Sam Hass each also knotched double figures with 14 and 11 points respectively.
The Blue Jays would get five points by Luke Guenther and a three pointer each from Sam Hass and Isaac Guenther in the opening quarter. Wynot got three pointers by Devin Brummer and Nixen Heimes but fell behind 13-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Wynot rallied early in the second period. Nine big points by Devin Brummer along with a pair of baskets by Justin Heimes lead the charge. The Blue Jays would fight back behind a trio of three pointers by Isaac Guenther and earned a 3027 halftime lead.
The Blue Devils tried to hang around in the third quarter with six points from Kotner Koch and a trey each by Justin Heimes and Devin Brummer but they lost ground as the Blue Jays went on a 23-15 run. Another trio of three pointer by Isaac Guenther and one each by Sam Hass and Elijah Steffensmeier fueled the run as the Blue Jays added to their lead.
The Blue Devils went ice cold on the offensive end in the fourth quarter. The Blue Jays got eight points from Luke Guenther as they pulled away for the 64-47 win.
