ATKINSON - After dropping the season opener on its home court to Crofton 71-63, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge evened its record at 1-1 with a 61-42 win on the road against the Huskies of West Holt.
The Bears led wire-to-wire against the Huskies on Dec. 5 in the game played in Atkinson.
It was just a single point at the end of the first quarter but the lead grew to three at the halftime buzzer.
LCC got defensive in the third quarter, holding West Holt to just six points in the frame while adding to the lead after scoring 16 points to head into the final stanza with a relatively comfortable lead 45-32.
The Bears added six points to the lead in the final eight minutes to post the 61-42 win.
Johnson was the man inside, putting in 26 points in the game, Dayton Korth tacked on 13.
Korth and Johnson each pulled down nine rebounds.
The Bears led early against the Warriors as well in the season openers for both teams.
LCC led 14-12 at the end of the first period, but Crofton battled back to take a 35-33 advantage into the halftime break.
The Warriors kept the heat on in the third adding five points to the lead then added a point to the advantage in the final stanza to seal the win.
Johnson had the hot hand inside again pouring in 21 points in the contest.
Drey Puppe scored 17 on the night while Tanner Thompson added 11.
Talon Carson grabbed eight rebounds, Dayton Korth, Puppe and Johnson each yanked down five boards.
Korth also handed out eight assists.
The Bears were set to host 0-2 Homer on Dec. 9 before a trip to take on Tri County Northeast on Dec. 12 before hosting Ponca on Dec. 16.
