RANDOLPH - The Randolph Cardinals opened the season with a pair of wins to finish the first week of games 2-0.
The Cards defeated Tri County Northeast 56-50 on Dec. 4 in a game played in Randolph before taking care of Chambers/Wheeler Central on the road Dec. 5 in Chambers 54-44.
The Cardinals trailed CWC at the end of the first eight minutes 13-12 but a big second frame put the Redbirds in front 28-18.
Chambers/Wheeler Central cut into the deficit in the third to send the teams to the final stanza with Randolph in front 39-32. The Cards finished the game with a 15-12 advan -tage in the final period to post the 10-point win and move to 2-0.
Logan Lienemann and Adrian Samano carried the Cardinal offense with 12 and 11 [points respectively.
Brecken Shearer tacked on nine, Luke Harder put in eight and Ryan Engel contribut ed seven.
The Wolfpack of Tri County Northeast came to town and after the Redbirds opened up an 18-14 lead after the first quarter the Pack evened the score at 26-26 at the break.
The Cards outscored TCNE 30-22 in the second half to post the 56-50 win.
Lienemann exploded for 22 points on the night, Engel added 10, Shearer and Samano tossed in eight each.
Randolph is set to hit the road for two games heading to Ponca on Dec. 11 and Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Dec. 12 before returning home for a date with Creighton on Dec. 16.
