RANDOLPH - The Randolph Lady Cardinal basketball team dropped a pair of games to open the new season on the hardwood.
The Lady Cards traveled to Chambers Dec. 5 to take on Chambers/Wheeler Central where they dropped the game 48-35 after getting taken down by Tri County Northeast the night before at home, 56-19.
Against the Lady Renegades, the Lady Cards stumbled through the first three quarters before heating up in the final eight minutes to score 20 points, but CWC had already done the damage after posting a 36-15 lead after the first three quarters.
Abbey Backer paced the Randolph offense with 14 points, Delayne Thelen added nine and Lilly Kuchta netted seven.
Kuchta grabbed 11 rebounds while Abbey Backer corralled eight boards.
The Wolfpack came to Randolph on Dec. 4 and the Lady Redbirds shot a frigid 14% from the field including a 0-for-17 per -formance from the 3-point line.
Tri County Northeast jumped in front 15-3 after the first q uarter and added to the advantage at every rest stop on the way to the 56-19 final score.
Backer and Thelen had five points each and Kelley tossed in four. Backer also contributed five steals on the evening and pulled down four rebounds to lead her team in that category.
The Lady Cards are set to return to the court on Dec. 9 when they host Osmond before hitting the road for back-to-back games at Ponca on Dec. 11 and Dec. 12 at Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
