LAUREL — The holiday spirit will shine a little brighter this week when Laurel kicks off its annual Night of Lights celebration on Thursday, Dec. 4.
The community is planning an evening packed with music, food, shopping and festive family fun.
Downtown businesses will stay open late and many will offer holiday specials. Others will set up booths inside the Community Center, giving shoppers plenty of chances to browse gift ideas and support local merchants.
Shoppers can also fill out their green punch cards throughout the evening for a chance to win prizes during a live drawing at 7:30 p.m. at the community center. Participants must be present to win.
The Chamber’s business and vendor fair will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the community center, featuring local retailers, crafters and holiday vendors.
Santa will make an appearance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., also at the community center, where families may take their own photos with him. Children can drop off letters to Santa in his magical mailbox located across from Laurel Hometown Market.
A supper, sponsored by the Laurel Presbyterian Church, will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the community center. LCC music students will provide live entertainment.
The memorial ornament tree will also be on display, offering a moment of reflection amid the evening’s festivities.
