HARTINGTON —Thank you to all who participated in the 2025 National Association of Conservation District (NACD) Poster Contest sponsored by Lewis & Clark Natural Resources District (LCNRD). Four schools, Cedar Catholic Jr. High School, Holy Trinity Elementary, Wynot Public Schools, and Allen Consolidated Schools, participated in this year’s contest. There were a total of 90 entries from kindergarten to 9th-grade competition levels.
The students did a great job visually describing the theme “Home is Where the Habitat is.” The selection criteria for the posters included conservation message, visual effectiveness, originality, and universal appeal. The posters were judged by LCNRD staff and directors, and winning posters were sent to Lincoln to be considered at the state level, which will take place in December. The state contest winner will then move on to Washington, D.C., for national judging.
This year’s local NACD Poster Contest winners are 1st grader, Gary Boeckman (Wynot Public School), son of Ryan and Angela Boeckman, 2nd grader, Cyler Nieman (Holy Trinity Elementary School), son of Susan and Casey Nieman, 9th grader Kiersten Hans (Wynot Public Schools), daughter of Becky and Jason Hans, and 5th grader Clara Steffen (Holy Trinity Elementary), daughter of Robert and Laura Steffen.
Now is a good time to start thinking about next year’s poster contest. The theme is “Soil. Where it All Begins.” More information can be found at https://www.nacdnet.org/general-resources/stewardship- and-education-materials.
