COLERIDGE—Three gentlemen who had been in the same Confirmation Class at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Randolph are close or already at the century mark.
Ernest Witte, who lived in Randolph most of his life, reached the age of one-hundred on Aug. 18 of this year.
Harry Huwaldt, Randolph, will celebrate his 100th birthday on Nov. 12. Gilbert Brummels, who grew up in the Randolph area but now lives in Coleridge, will turn 100 years of age on Jan. 12, 2016.

COLERIDGE—Ten American Legion Riders stopped at Park View Haven and The Embers Assisted Living in Coleridge to honor veterans on Saturday morning.
It was a chilly day but a few still came in on their motorcycles while others made the trip in a car or pickup.
Most of the men and women wore black leather vests marked with the American Legion Riders name and a large number of patches.

LAUREL—The LCC football team will drop down to compete in eightman football next season.
The issue was voted on Tuesday without any discussion, although the subject had been discussed at length in previous board meetings.
According to a written report to the board from Activities Director T.J. Shiers, the school has until Nov. 30 to declare its intentions to the Nebraska School Activities Association, which does all of the scheduling for high school football.

COLERIDGE—Christmas in Coleridge is in the planning stages for Wednesday, Dec. 9. The event has been a constant now for the past several years and always features something different.
The Coleridge Community Club plans comething special for Christmas each year, according to long time member Jacie Burbach. About five years ago, the club added open houses to the mix to make it a special day and to encourage local patronage of businesses.
Before that time there was ‘Soup with Santa’ and members handing out treats to children in the community. Nov. 18, 2015
COLERIDGE—Veterans and locals packed the gym at the Coleridge Middle School last Wednesday to watch and listen while students played patriotic medleys and performed a program called “The American Dream” with music and song.
Richard Carlson was the special guest speaker who also spoke at Laurel’s Veteran’s Day celebration.
After graduating from Laurelconcord High School in 1966, Carlson joined the National Guard that same fall and did his basic training in Camp Polk in Louisiana.
The swampy areas surrounding the base, helped prepare the fledgling soldiers for the jungles of Vietnam.

LAUREL—Close to 30 visitors sat in on the Laurel Concord-Coleridge School board meeting Nov. 10.
Discussion took place before the vote was taken on clarifying the language on class rank.
The school attorney had reviewed the poicy on class rank previous to the board meeting.
