LCC E Sports team headed to State

LAUREL — Marvel Rivals team featuring Shane Langford, Ben Pico-Towne, Tyrelle Sims, Oscar Salas, Hunter Benson, Owen Johnson, Paul Allison, and Trystan Sims defeated Chase County 2-0 in the quarterfinals to move to 9-0 and punch their ticket to state on Friday at Midland University.

The team will face off against Thayer Central in the semifinals, with hopes of facing the winner of Bridgeport and David City in the State Championship.

Jacob Kolar defeated Bridgeport in Super Smash Brothers 3-2 also punching his ticket to state in Fremont Friday. The top 16 players face off to decide the state champion.

Jacob will face Louisville in his first match.

The event is free and open to the public. Jacob will kick things off competing in the morning session at 9 a.m. and the Marvel Rivals team will play at 2pm. This is LCC’s fifth straight year qualifying a team for the state tournament.

A pep rally for the team will be held Thursday, Nov. 20 at 3:20 p.m. in the LCC Legacy Gym.
