RANDOLPH - Randolph head football coach Mark Lech landed six of his players on the D2-2 All-District First Team and honorable mention honor lists last week.
Four Redbirds were named all-district while two were tabbed honorable mention by the district coaches.
Ryan Engel, Elijah Bermel, Owen Junck and Ty Sievers were named to the D2-2 All-District Team.
“Ryan Engel led our offense in almost every category from multiple positions,” said Lech. “He was also a huge part of our special teams returning kickoffs and punts.
“On the defensive side, Elijah Bermel was that leader. He led us in tackles and maybe more importantly in impact plays. He seemed to get the big tackle for loss or the important turnover when we needed it.”
Sievers and Junck did a lot of the Randolph “dirty” work.
“Ty and Owen are two of our unsung heroes as they played on the offensive and defensive lines,” the coach said. “They both had strong seasons on both sides of the ball and anchored what I thought was our strongest position.”
Milo Rayford and Bentley Boncynski were both on the honorable mention list.
“Bentley was the third part to the strong offensive line,” said Lech. “Milo was our primary ball carrier and battled some injuries in the middle of the season that cut back on his carries and that hurt his overall stats, but he still had a good season.”
