HARTINGTON — H. William Arms is the new pastor at the First Congregational Church in Hartington. The local church has been without a pastor for several weeks.
Mr. Arms and his family arrived here Tuesday from Grand Island where he has been pastor of the First Congregational Church of that city for two years. Prior to moving to Grand Island, he served his first pastorate in the Congregational Christian Church at Curtis, Neb.

HARTINGTON — Larry Folkers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Folkers, was named the Most Valuable Player on the 1955 Hartington football squad at the annual Father and Son Football Banquet at the Hartington City Auditorium.
Folkers, a four-year letterman in football, was chosen by the members of this year’s football team.
Coach Hughes also announced the members of the team selected for the Northeast Nebraska All Conference Football Teams.
Folkers, who played halfback, was named to the First Team offense. Don Nelson, a senior and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nelson, as well as Marles Robins, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Robins, were both selected for the second team.
Nov. 18, 1965
HARTINGTON — Chalmer Wilkerson was presented a pin for 20 years of leadership at the annual 4-H Leader’s banquet Monday evening. Mrs. Warren Patefield received a 10-year pin.
One hundred 4-H leaders and spouses attended the banquet at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Gerald Miller, master of ceremonies, introduced a trio from Hartington High School, who sang two songs. Mary Spenner played a piano solo and a double trio from Cedar Catholic High School sang one number. Don Arduser, chairman of the 4-H club committee, conducted the business meeting and election of committee members. Those elected were: Mrs. Irvin Holm, Mrs. Melvin Graham, Chalmer Wilkerson and Vernon Neuhalfen.
Keith Burney and William Pick Jr gave a short report on the 1965 Cedar County Fair. Reports showed gate receipts down.
