RANDOLPH — The Randolph Public School wants to make sure area veterans know how much they are appreciated.
At 9 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, Randolph veterans and a spouse or their guest are welcome to come to the school commons area for a light breakfast served by students.
A special Veterans Day program will then be held in the school’s performing arts gym at 10 a.m.
Several special events are being planned around the area to help local residents cele brate veterans and honor their service.
In Osmond, the annual Veterans Day program will take place at 10 a. m. in the Osmond Community School gym. The address will be given by Dan Kuester.
Kuester grew up on a family farm south of Clearwater. His parents were both proud vet -erans who served during World War II.
A special Veterans Day program to honor Coleridge area veterans is also being planned at the LCC Middle School in Coleridge.
That event will be held at 11 a. m., with coffee and cookies being served from 10: 15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to the event.
A program to thank and honor area veter ans will also be held at 9: 30 a.m., Nov. 11, in the LCC High School gym.
This program will also feature music and speakers.
Hartington VFW Commander Dean McGregor said all Hartington Veterans Day programs will be held inside this year.
“You just never know how the weather’s going to be in November, so we’re just trying to plan ahead a little bit, ” McGregor said.
This year’s Veterans’ Day program will be indoors at the VFW Hall at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11.
At 2 p.m., a brief ceremony will then be held at the nursing home in Hartington.
This year’s guest speaker is Mike Reisig, a retired military helicopter pilot.
Reisig is expected to speak at the 1 p. m. VFW ceremony, as well as at a 2: 45 p.m. ceremony at Hartington-Newcastle school. The school program is for all HNS, Holy Trinity and Cedar Catholic students and will feature music from area students.
Hartington’s annual Veterans’ Day supper will be held at 6:15 p.m., Nov. 11, at the VFW Hall. A social hour will begin at 5: 30 p.m.
