EMERSON - Cedar Catholic saw its volleyball season end with a 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 25-12 and 9-15 loss to Tri County Northeast on Oct. 28, The Lady Trojans looked as though they would move along in Nebraska D1 but the Wolfpack had different ideas about how the night would go.
Cedar Catholic would win the first set by the 25-19 final, but the Lady Wolfpack would come back in the second set to win, 25-22..
With the score 12-7 in the first set, Cedar Catholic reeled off three consecutive points.
A service error by Tri Country followed by an overpass kill by Ava Stewart made it 13-7 in favor of the Lady Trojans.
A winner by Sam Rastede made it 13-8. A Calley Stewart block made it 14-8. The Wolfpack was called for two hits then Addison Walter earned a kill to make it 16-8.
Tri County responded with a service error, an overpass kill by Briley Anderson and kill off of the Cedar Catholic block to make it 16-11.
A hitting error by TCNE and a kill from Savannah Pick which went off the Wolfpack block out of bounds made it 18-11 later in the set then an Anisten Wortmann ace serve made it 19-12 in the opening set.
Back-to-back Brynn Bernecker kills made it 23-17 later in the set and the Lady Trojans closed out the set with an ace serve by Kally Becker for a 25-19 first set win.
The Wolfpack came back and took the second set by the 25-22 final score, but the Trojans were far from done.
Cedar Catholic dropped the third set by the 25-23 final score to put the Lady Trojans behind the eight ball with a 1-1 score in the match.
The Lady Trojans jumped out to a lead in set three before trying to take control of the match with four straight points to tie it at 13-13.
Ava Stewart hit a winner off of the Tri County block out of bounds but the Wolfpack made it 15-15 when Cedar used a monster kill by Ava Stewart to go up 16-15.
An error by Cedar and an ace serve by Allyson Belt made it 17-16 in favor of the Wolfpack.
The set was tied at 17-17 after an Addison Walter monster winner and 18-18 after a Tri County error.
Cedar Catholic committed a service error but committed another error to make it 18-18.
The Wolfpack went up 19-18 before the Lady Trojans came storming back to make it 21-19 after a kill from Savannah Pick and an ace serve by Autumn Kathol.
A high-flying winner from Pick made it 21-19 and forced TCNE head coach Carly Dickens to ask for a timeout.
After the Wolfpack timeout, Joslyn Mackling smashed a winner for Tri County but a hitting error by the Wolfpack and an ace serve by Anisten Wortmann and the Lady Trojans were up 23-20.
Back-to-back errors, one from the service line and one while the ball was in play on a hitting error gifted the set to Cedar Catholic by the 25-21 final score in the set to force the final sprint to 15..
The Wolfpack ran out to a 4-0 lead in the final set.
An Ava Stewart winner and a Walter hammer made it 4-2 but a couple of Kiya Tornez slams for TCNE made it 6-2 and the Lady Trojans got back into the match with an ace serve by Wortmann to make it 8-7 in favor of the Wolfpack.
Later in the final set, a Walter kill and a hitting error by TCNE made it 10-9 with the Wolfpack still in front, but the home team finished the fifth and final set with a 5-0 run.
Tri County Northeast went on to a district match with Shelton which the Wolfpack dropped in straight sets.
Cedar ends the season with a 12-19 record.
