2010: Christensen to challenge Thoene for City Council seat

Oct. 27, 2010

HARTINGTON — Cody Christensen wants to help make Hartington a better place to live.

Christensen and Gerry Thoene have both filed for the same spot on the Hartington City Council.

Thoene has served the North Ward of Hartington for the past eight years.

Cody Christensen did not have any particular issues in mind when he filed for the slot on the Hartington City Council but he does think more people need to get involved.

“Younger people need to step up and help do the job,” Christensen said.

If he is successful at the General Election Nov., 2, Christensen said he would bring a common sense vote to the City Council.

Christensen is a member of the Knights of Columbus and serves as part of the Leadership Academy for the Nebraska Well Drillers Association.

Christensen, who is an avid hunter and fisherman, is also a member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the National Rifle Association.

He has spent time with younger kids, introducing them to the enjoyment of fishing and hunting.

Christensen has lived in the Hartington area all of his life.
