Oct. 27, 1960

HARTINGTON -Bernard Burbach of Hartington was bruised when the Farmers Union tank wagon truck he was driving struck a car that was parked at the foot of a hill 8 miles northeast of Randolph Saturday.

The tank wagon was badly damaged. Mr. Burbach drove over a crest and saw an auto parked on the road at the foot of the hill, Sheriff John Riibe said. Mr. Burbach attempted to go around the car, but the truck caught the right rear of the auto. The truck went into the ditch and upset. The car spun sideways in the road after the impact.

In the car at the time of the accident were Bob Bishop, 70, and Douglas Armbust, 9, of Gretna. Young Armbust was in the front seat and Mr. Bishop in the rear seat, Sheriff Riibe said. The car is owned by Lester Fous of Omaha who was hunting in Cedar county.

Two autos were slightly damaged in an accident at the intersection southwest of the courthouse here Wednesday morning, the sheriff reported.

Richard Goeden, driving Jim Kuehns’ car, was traveling east and Larry Hames was driving north. Both stopped for the stop sign. The accident occurred when they started up again. The bumper of the Kuehn car and the left rear fender of the Hames vehicle were damaged. Goeden told the sheriff he was blinded by the sun.
