WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils would host the Fullerton Warriors in their first round game of the state playoffs on Thursday night. Wynot got off to a fast start in this game and rolled to a 44-8 win over the Warriors.
Devin Brummer would connect on three touchdown passes of 48, 44 and 41 yards. He would end up going 7 for 10 for 170 yards.
Isaac Supik had the Warriors lone touchdown.
Wynot wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Lane Heimes found a hole on the right side of the Warriors line and on the very first play of the game, weaved 48 yards for a Blue Devil touchdown. Devin Brummer hit Killian Steinhaus for the PAT as Wynot led 8-0 with less than a minute gone in the game.
On Wynot’s next possession they would find the endzone again. Kotner Koch would sweep the left side for a 12 yard touchdown run. Brummer again hit Killian Steinhaus for the PAT as Wynot held a 16-0 advantage.
Wynot’s defense continued to control the line of scrimmage on Fullerton’s next offensive set. When the Blue Devils went on offense they would find success. A 41 yard bomb from Devin Brummer to Kotner Koch put the ball on the Warriors one yard line. Jed Nelson bulled in from there. The PAT was no good as the Blue Devils lead had grown to 22-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Warriors next offensive possession of the second quarter got a couple of first downs but it stalled after crossing mid field.
Wynot’s offense would strike quickly. A 44 yard strike from Devin Brummer to Killian Steinhaus put up another score for the Blue Devils. The PAT pass was intercepted but Wynot’s lead had grown to 28-0.
A sack on third down by Blue Devils Jed Nelson stalled the Warriors next offensive possession. It took just two plays for the Blue Devils to add points.
Devin Brummer would find Braylon Hans behind the Warriors secondary for a 32 yard touchdown completion. Brummer hooked up with Kotner Koch for the PAT as Wynot kept rolling leading 36-0 at halftime.
Wynot’s defensive line and linebackers continued to shut down the Warriors running game in the third quarter. Meanwhile the home team’s offense would put more points up on the scoreboard. At the 6:00 minute mark Brummer would find Killian Steinhaus in the left flat and 41 yards later he was in the endzone for another Blue Devil score. Brummer and Kotner Koch hooked up for the PAT as Wynot’s lead had ballooned to 44-0.
Reserves would mop up for the Blue Devils in the fourth quarter. An interception by the Warriors Kyle Horn gave Fullerton the ball at their own 11 yard line. Two plays later Issac Supik plunged in from the 3 yard line for a Warrior touchdown. The PAT was no good as Fullerton had their lone touchdown of the game.
In the final minutes of the game. Wynot was pinned deep and a bad snap on the punt resulted in a safety making the final score 44-8.
Wynot advanced to host Mullen in the next round of the state playoffs.
