OSMOND — The Randolph Lady Cardinals volleyball team split a couple of matches with Osmond this past week in a triangular at Boyd County and in the opening round of the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament.
Unfortunately, it was the tournament match the Lady Cards dropped to the Lady Tigers.
In the L&C tourney match, after dropping the first set 25-18, the Lady Cards scratched and clawed to stay in the match, but finally fell in the second set by a 32-30 final score.
Mabel Ngebeh led the Lady Redbird attack with six kills in the match, Peyton Thelen and Brooke Meier added three winners each, Sydney Robinson tacked on a couple.
Kynlee Winkelbauer, Ella Graf and Delayne Thelen each had an ace serve, Graf added nine set assists and Meier tipped up four.
Alexis Backhaus recorded 15 digs defensively while Meier had eight.
In a loss to Boyd County in the triangular on Oct. 16, the Lady Cards dropped the opening set 25-17 but made the second set a little more competitive before falling 25-21.
Ngebeh again led the attack with six slams, Alaina Schulz had four, Robinson had three and Lilly Kuchta added two winners to go along with a dozen digs and 11 good passes in serve receiving.
Meier, Ngebeh and Backhaus each had an ace while Graf and Meier tipped up four and eight assists respectively.
Backhaus had 11 digs and 22 solid passes and Meier added eight digs to her match.
Randolph took care of business against the Lady Tigers in the triangular sweeping the best-of-threesets match 25-18 and 25-17.
Robinson paced the Lady Cardinal attack with seven winners, Ngebeh contributed five and Peyton Thelen added four.
Meier had four ace serves, Kuchta rifled three and Graf had a pair.
Meier recorded eight set assists, Graf had seven. Backhaus had 13 digs and successfully passed along 17 serves.
The Lady Cards were set to take on Walthill and Winnebago in a triangular on Oct. 20 before entering Class D2 Sub District action on Oct.27.
