NORFOLK - The Randolph Cardinal and Lady Cardinal cross country teams ended the season in the District D-2 Cross Country Meet at Skyview Lake Park in Norfolk on Oct. 16.
The top 15 individual runners and the top three teams will continue the season at this week’s Nebraska Cross Country Championships at the Kearney Country Club on Oct. 24.
The girls’ qualifying teams were Crofton with 10 points, Ponca with 27 and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge with 34.
The boys’ qualifying teams were Norfolk Catholic with 8, Homer with 21 and Stanton with 42.
The girls’ individual race went to Crofton’s freshman sensation Avery Arens who took the title by over two minutes covering the 5,000-meter course in 17-minutes, 53.70-seconds. Ava Brennan of Ponca was second in 20:38.00.
Randolph’s Emily Gilliland finished up her sophomore season with a time of 26:24.30 which put her in 44th position.
Another freshman won the boys’ race when Teddy Haake of Norfolk Catholic crossed the mat in 17:33.50. Teammate Andrew Kastl was second in 17:54.70.
Randolph’s Kamdin Worlein was 53rd with a time of 23:42.10 and Brayden Worlein was 64th with a time of 26:57.10. CLASS D-2 DISTRICT MEET Girls Team Results (Top 3 Qualify for State): 1.
