Three more wins puts Lady Bears at 23-3

LAUREL - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bear volleyball team added three sweeps to the 2025 resume’ winning a triangular the Lady Bears hosted on Oct. 9 and taking a duel match with Hartington-Newcastle on the road on Oct. 7.

In the triangular held in Laurel, the Lady Bears took care of Howells-Dodge in the opening match 25-17 and 25-11 then disposed of Humphrey/ Lindsay 25-19 and 25-14 to improve to 23-3 on the season.

LCC defeated the Lady Bulldogs of Humphrey/ Lindsay in part due to a pair of doubledoubles the Lady Bears posted during the match.

Carlie Kvols tipped up 20 set assists and recorded 11 digs while Rena Rasmussen slammed 10 kills and 10 digs. Kaida Eriksen missed a double- double by a couple of kills, recording eight in the match while getting a dozen digs.

Taelynn Settje had a pair of ace serves and Tyler Recob and Boston Brown had four and three winners respectively. Recob tacked on 11 digs to her match.

In the win over the Lady Jaguars, Rasmussen again recorded a double-double with 12 winners and 11 digs. Eriksen was again two short of a double-double; it was eight digs and 10 kills for her.

Recob had five kills and Kvols had 28 assists. The Lady Bears made some hay at the service line against Hartington-Newcastle recording 18 ace serves on the night on the way to a 25-11, 25-9 and 25-8 sweep of the match in a best-offive-sets evening.

Recob led the way with 10 aces and just missed a double-double with nine kills in the match.

Brown had four ace serves, Rasmussen and Settje each added two.

Rasmussen led the attack with 13 slams while Kvols recorded 28 assists.

The Lady Bears were set to take a trip north to take on Cedar Catholic Oct. 14 before hosting Elgin Public/Pope John on Oct. 16.

The Greater Northeast Activities Conference Tournament gets underway Oct. 18 when top-seeded LCC takes on the Lady Wildcats again in the first round. That contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
