HARTINGTON — The Wynot Lady Blue Devil volleyball team made the short trip to Hartington and invaded the Monsignor Werner Activities Center by swiping a pair of wins on the court from Cedar Catholic and Ponca to improve to 19-4 on the season.
“We beat two really well coached teams here tonight,” said Wynot coach Tristan Wieseler. “I feel like we played well to the end in both matches.”
Kenna Oligmueller had her second double-double of the night against the Lady Trojans as she smacked 14 winners at the net and recorded 16 digs.
Haley Wieseler posted 18 set assists and added 11 digs for a doubledouble of her own.
Jaylin Geisen had 14 digs and Kiera Heimes hit double figures with 10 digs.
The match with Ponca was tight throughout with the Lady Indians winning the first set 25-22 before Wynot got things going in set two to eke out a win by the same score reversed.
The final race to 25 took a couple of extra points to decide a winner, but the Lady Blue Devils prevailed by the 27-25 final score to win the match 2-1.
Oligmueller had another double-double with 16 winners and 27 digs.
Wieseler had a nice stat-line with 33 set assists, eight digs, a couple of kills and a couple of ace serves, oh, and 6 blocks at the net.
Foxhoven earned a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs, Giesen had 23 digs and Mya Pinkelman registered six winners.
Wynot was set to host a triangular Oct. 14 with Randolph and Plainview before a home date with Wausa on Oct. 16.
The Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament is set to get underway Oct. 18 and will run through Oct. 21.
