LCC Middle School holds its own Homecoming parade

COLERIDGE — For the first time, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School brought its Homecoming spirit to downtown Coleridge, turning the celebration into a way to better connect with the community.

“We wanted to look for a way to include the Coleridge community more in the Homecoming festivities,” said Principal Mark Leonard. “This is the first time we have tried a Homecoming Celebration here in Coleridge.”

Students created posters built around this year’s Homecoming theme, “Stronger Together,” to decorate the event.

The middle school band — 50 members strong under the direction of Patti Beyeler — performed school songs to bring extra energy and LCC pride to the community audience.

Leonard said the school felt it was important to share details about LCC’s Homecoming Court, the week’s activities, the football game and the Homecoming coronation directly with local residents.

To spread the spirit even further, the band also visited Park View Haven and The Embers assisted living centers to play for residents who couldn’t easily make it downtown. The extra stops provided students more marching practice and another chance to showcase their musical selections.

Leonard said the effort was meant as a show of gratitude.

“Our middle school is extremely thankful for the support of all the Coleridge community businesses and patrons,” he said. “Today’s Homecoming Celebration was a small token of our appreciation.”
