BATTLE CREEK — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears won the team title at the Evergreen Golf Course on Oct. 3 while the Bears finished fourth in the team standings.
Kate Tasler sparked the Lady Bears’ run to the title covering the
5,000-meter course in 21-minutes,
31.03 seconds to take medalist honors over Isabella Kester of Sommerland who was second in 21:58.24.
Leah Gould from LCC was fifth in
22:25.44 and Faith Galvin ended up
15th in 23:28.19 as the Lady Bears posted a team score of 31 which was seven spots in front of Homer.
Addy Hoeppner wound up 20th in 24:12.65, Ava Christiansen was
27th in a time of 24:44.42 and Abbie Brummels posted a 26:31.44 which was good enough for 41st.
Norfolk Catholic won the boys’ division of the meet with a score of
20, Battle Creek was second with
29, Homer third with 38 and the Bears were fourth with 68.
Shane Langford was the first LCC runner to cross the mat in 19:14.61 which put him in the medals at
12th, Owen Johnson was one spot out of the hardware, finishing 16th after a run of 19:52.14.
Miles Clausen of Battle Creek was the champion on the boys’ side with a time of 17:16.33; Teddy Haake, Andrew Kastl and Jonah Ash, all three from Norfolk Catholic placed second, third and fourth.
The Bears and the Lady Bears are slated to run in the Greater Northeast Activities Conference meet Oct.
9 in Summerland.
