Lady Cardinals fall to Creighton

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Lady Cardinals welcomed the Creighton Lady Bulldogs to town Sept. 30 for a Lewis & Clark Conference volleyball match.

The Lady Bulldogs ended up being stubborn guests, turning away the Lady Cards 25-15, 25-13 and 25-11 in a sweep of the best-of-five-sets match.

Brooke Meier led the Lady Cardinal attack with four kills in the match, Abby Backer and Mabel Ngebeh each added two winners and Peyton Thelen had one.

Ngebeh tacked on two ace serves while Ella Graf tipped up four assists, Alexis Backhaus had a couple and Thelen and Kynlee Winkelbauer each had one assist.

Ngebeh added seven digs to her line; Graf, Lilly Kuchta and Backhaus each had five.

Thelen and Meier had two blocks apiece and Backhaus successfully passed along 28 serves, Ngebeh received 23.

The Lady Cards were set to head to Creighton Oct. 7 for a triangular with the Lady Bulldogs and Neligh-Oakdale then a trip to Bloomfield Oct. 9.

Randolph will close out a busy week at the Stanton Quadrangular on Oct. 11 competing against some familiar teams as they face the Lady Mustangs, Bancroft-Rosalie and Plainview.

The Lady Cards will open the following week with another triangular, this one at Wynot along with Plainview.
