HARTINGTON - Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Lauritzen returned home Tuesday evening from a visit in the western part of the state.
While there, they met Father Loecker, who sent his best regards to Hartington friends.

HARTINGTON - Monday Mrs. H. Opperman purchased the Merchants hotel of Frank Oestering, and is now in possession.
Mrs. Opperman has had considerable experience in the hotel business and promises to run the house in a first class manner.

HARTINGTON - Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Whitney, living west of town, left Monday noon to attend the sessions of the grand lodge of Rebekahs and Odd Fellows, each being the delegate from the local lodge. Before returning, Mrs. Whitney will visit Iowa relatives.

HARTINGTON - Everyone would welcome a heavy frost now. The corn is beyond danger and a good frost would put it in good condition.

HARTINGTON — The new seats have arrived for the Methodist church here and will be ready for use next Sunday. This gives the church sufficient seating.

HARTINGTON — Announcement of the coming marriage of Miss Alice Lynde, daughter of Postmaster and Mrs. S. C. Lynde, to Frank B. Johnson of Los Angeles, California, was made the occasion of a formal dinner at the bride’s home on Wednesday.

HARTINGTON — County Engineer Clair Smith and Commissioners Jones, Jorgenson and Samelson, made a tour of investigation last Tuesday afternoon along the Brookey Bottom ditch, where nearly 1,000 acres of land are under water.
The trip was made at the request of the owners of nearby land which has been under water, and desire the commissioners to have the ditch cleaned out, so that the surplus water will find an outlet.

HARTINGTON — Miss Bird Morten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Morten, who has been teaching school in district 77, was taken suddenly ill Wednesday morning while at school.
She was brought to her home, and as she has been suffering from appendicitis for some time she was then taken to a Sioux City hospital, where an operation was performed on her.
She is now reported to be recovering nicely.
