CREIGHTON - Isabel Rolfes crossed the finish line third and Issac Santiago was fifth in their respective divisions of the Creighton Invitational Cross Country Meet on Oct. 2.
Rolfes and teammate Breah Seffen placed third and sixth with Rolfes completing the 5,000-meter course in 24-minutes, 48-seconds and Steffen posting a time of 27:50.
“Isabel ran a great race, she just missed second by a few feet, but really ran a gutsy race,” said Lady Wildcat coach, Lisa Rolfes. “It was probably our hottest meet of the year, which is crazy to say for October, but our girls really stepped up and are going to the conference next week looking strong.”
Bloomfield/Wausa won both the titles in the race with the boys winning with a score of seven, 10 points in front of Creighton and the B/W girls posting a score of 13, four points ahead of runner-up Creighton.
Hartington-Newcastle was third in the boys race paced by Santiago’s 20:09, fifth-place showing.
Jeffrey Heine placed 10th in 21:52 and Donnie Schulte bringing home some hardware with a 23:06 which was good enough for 14th.
Destiny Rich of Bloomfield/Wausa was the medalist in the girls with a time of 24:00, teammate Hallie Kumm was 48 seconds behind and Rolfes was a second behind Kumm at 24:49.
Ty Freeman of Bloomfield/Wausa took the boys’ title in 18:24 with teammate Luke Woockman second in 18:53.
The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats are set to make the trip to Summerland for the Greater Northeast Activities Conference Meet on Oct. 9 before heading to the district meet on Oct. 15 at Pierce.
