HARTINGTON - The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan volleyball team dropped a pair of Mid State Conference matches over the past week, one on the road and one at home.
Guardian Angels Central Catholic came to town Oct. 2 and left with a 25-14, 26-28, 25-17 and 25-23 win over the Lady Trojans after Cedar Catholic dropped a match to Battle Creek in straight sets 25-16, 25-18 and 25-17 on Sept. 30 in Battle Creek.
Ava and Calley Stewart provided the offense for the Lady Trojans against GACC. Calley hammered 11 winners in the match while Ava put down 10 kills on the night. They also sparked the defense at the net with Calley registering five blocks and Ava posting four.
Brynn Bernecker also had four stuffs at the net as Cedar Catholic recorded 17 total during the four.
Savannah Pick served a pair of aces, Kally Becker and Autumn Kathol had 16 and 17 set assists respectively.
Anisten Wortmann posted 19 digs while Bernecker had a dozen and Wortmann successfully passed 29 serves received, Reese Albers moved along 25.
In the match with Battle Creek, Calley Stewart led a balanced Lady Trojan attack with six kills, Wortmann had five, Ava Stewart and Bernecker each had four winners while Pick and Walter had two apiece.
Pick served three aces on the night, Wortmann added one.
Kathol tipped up nine assists, Becker had eight and Wortmann registered 23 good passes in serve receiving.
The Lady Trojans will host a triangular Oct. 9 with Ponca and Wynot before hosting Laurel-Concord- Coleridge on Oct. 14.
Cedar Catholic will travel to Albion Oct. 16 to take on Boone Central in another MidState Conference contest.
