Lady Blue Devils keep rolling along

CLARKSON — After taking a Lewis & Clark Conference five-set match from Homer on Oct. 2 in Wynot, the Lady Blue Devil volleyball team traveled south for the Clarkson/ Leigh Invitational and took three matches to improve to 15-3 as the season winds down.

In the tournament, the Lady Devils defeated Aquinas Catholic in the opening round 25-23 and 25-11, then defeated the hosts 15-25, 25-22 and 25-20 and won the final match over Elmwood-Murdock 25-23, 19-25 and 25-18.

Kenna Oligmueller, Haley Wieseler and Jordan Foxhoven paved the way in the win over Elmwood-Murdock.

Oligmueller recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs, Wieseler put up 23 set assists and Foxhoven was a winner shy of a double-double with nine kills and 13 digs.

Kuera Heimes rifled a couple of ace serves and Jaylin Geisen posted 25 digs.

Oligmueller recorded another doubledouble in the win over Clarkson/Leigh with 17 winners and 13 digs, she also served a pair of aces.

Foxhoven hammered nine kills while Mya Pinkelman contributed eight.

Wieseler tipped up 33 assists and nailed a double-double of her own with 13 digs.

Heimes had 17 digs, Geisen and Foxhoven 14 each and Wiesler and Oligmueller had 13 apiece. In the opening win over Aquinas Catholic, the Lady Blue Devils held on for the 25-23 win in set one then dominated the second set to sweep the match. Oligmueller slammed 13 kills in the match, Mya Pinkelman added eight. Wieseler had 25 assists and Geisen recorded 10 digs. The match with the Lady Knights went the distance with Wynot pulling it out in the sprint to 15 in the best-of-five-sets match.

“It was a battle with two good teams squaring off tonight,” said Wynot coach Tristan Wieseler. “I’ll look forward to playing them again in the conference tournament.”

Oligmueller had a monster match with 18 kills, 18 digs and three ace serves.

Wieseler and Geisen also had three aces each and Wiesler added a double-double with 38 assists and 15 digs and just missed a triple-double with eight blocks at the net. Geisen led the team with 19 digs.

Wynot will travel to the Monsignor Werner Activities Center Oct. 9 for a triangular with Cedar Catholic and Ponca.

The Lady Blue Devils will head south for the Wisner-Pilger tournament on Oct. 11.
