RANDOLPH — More Randolph servicemen became civilians the past week including Sgt. Kenneth Anderson, S/Sgt. Joseph L. Schmitt, First Lt. Stanley G. Deines, Radioman 1c Darrel Heiderman, Pfc. Dale Blotz, Cpl. Kenneth Conyers, and from Sholes, T/5 Lyle J. Miller, Sgt. Eugene D. Miller, Pfc. Lyle Peters and M/Sgt. Alvin Tietgen.

RANDOLPH — Plainview ended the Randolph Cards’ winning streak of 15 consecutive victories Friday night with a 6-0 conquest on a sodden Randolph gridiron, scoring the lone touchdown on a long, looping pass completed after the game was over in a play made possible by Randolph acceptance of an offside penalty against their opponents.

RANDOLPH — The Morning Eagle PTA was awarded a superior rating for the third consecutive year by the Nebraska Congress of Parents and Teachers. It comprises the Districts 55 and 89 north of Randolph. The Pleasant View inPTA was awarded an excellent rating comprising Districts 38NW, 50 and 93 also north of Randolph.

RANDOLPH — Dick Munter, Dick Thies and Verdy Klocke, Randolph youths, who were inducted into service at the same time, are all in training in the Marine Corps at San Diego, Calif. In the platoon with them is another Cedar County boy, Orlo Rath of Coleridge.

RANDOLPH — — This area was hit with the first heavy frost of the season Monday night as the temperature dipped to the 30 degree mark. A heavier frost yet was received here Tuesday night.
The low temperatures were preceded by a rainy weekend with over 1-1/2 inches of rain. Most of the rain came Sunday night.
The Nebraska Crop Report states this week that approximately 80 percent of the corn was out of danger from frost on Oct. 1.
