LAUREL - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bear volleyball team completed a busy week which saw the team drop from the unbeaten ranks, but still came away with a 4-2 record for the week.
LCC finished the week in the Elkhorn Valley Invitational Sept. 27 where the Lady Bears won the first two matches over O’Neill and Battle Creek in sweeps, then dropped a 2-1 best-ofthree sets match to Archbishop Bergan before falling to Oakland-Craig 2-0 to end the week with a 19-2 record for the season.
On Sept. 25, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge traveled to Wynot and won two matches in a triangular with the Lady Blue Devils and Wakefield, both in sweeps.
Statistics were not available for the Elkhorn Valley Tournament matches, but one statistic to report is junior hitter Rena Rasmussen recorded her 1,000th career kill in the loss to Archbishop Bergan in Tilden.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Bears traveled up Highway 15 to take on Wynot and Wakefield in the triangular played in Wynot.
LCC inched past the Lady Blue Devils in the sweep, needing extra points in each set to get the win 26-24 and 26-24.
Rasmussen recorded a double-double in the match with 14 kills and 16 digs. Carlie Kvols also posted a double-double with 26-set assists and a dozen digs.
Kaida Eriksen added nine winners in the match, Tyler Recob had four and Hattie McCorkindale had three.
Justice Olson served three aces, Rasmussen, Kvols and Eriksen each had one ace serve.
The Lady Bears overpowered the Lady Trojans 25-12 and 25-19 in straight sets.
Rasmussen had another double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Recob hammered five winners, Taelynn Settje and Eriksen each had three and McCorkindale tacked on two slams and along with Eriksen, served three aces.
Kvols and Recob each had two ace serves and Olson rifled one.
The Lady Bears were set for a big match with Pierce on Sept. 30 in Laurel before hosting Summerland on Oct. 4. LCC will travel to Hartington Oct. 7 to take on Hartngton-Newcastle.
