CROFTON - Kate Tasler and Shane Langford led the Lady Bears and Bears cross country teams at the Crofton Invitational at Lewis & Clark State Park Sept. 25.
Tasler used a time of 21-minutes, 21.74-seconds to place fifth in the girls division and lead the Lady Bears to a third-place showing in the team standings while Langford covered the 5,000-meter course in 18:44.80 to place 15th overall in the boys race.
Crofton won the girls title with 14 points, Wayne was second with 42 and LCC took third with 50.
Crofton’s Avery Arens was the girls medalist finishing in 17:04.62, over three minutes in front of the runner-up, Tayla Hurner of Wayne who crossed the mat in 20:21.44.
Leah Gould also brought home some hardware, finishing 15th with a time of 22:50.41. Addy Hoeppner and Faith Galvin were 19th and 20th respectively with times of 23:13.61 and 23:19.98.
Ava Christiansen was 25th in 23:57.49 and Abbie Brummels was 33rd in 25:18.66.
Norfolk Catholic was the boys champ posting an 18, Bloomfield-Wausa was second with 50 and Wayne was third.
The Bears finished seventh as a team with a score of 117.
Norfolk Catholic’s Jonah Ash was the individual champion finishing 16:51.90, Ty Freeman of Bloomfield/Wausa was second in 16:53.90.
LCC’s Owen Johnson was 24th in 19:51.80, Sebastian Van Drongelen was 38th in 21:20.60, Hunter McGhee was 43rd in 21:53.70, Dillion Sanderson was 51st in 24:50.10and Luke Jackson was 53rd with a time of 26:42.10.
The Bears and Lady Bears will travel Oct. 3 to Battle Creek.
