NORFOLK — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bear golfers made history Monday. The local golf team punched their ticket to next week’s state tournament with a third-place finish in the C-3 district Monday at Fair Play Golf Club.
It’s the first time the school has ever sent a girls’ golf squad to State. Led by Sarah Karnes’ third place finish, the LCC girls carded a team score of 402 to finish behind fellow qualifiers WestPoint-Beemer (377) and Battle Creek (400) to qualify for next week’s state tournament at the Elks Country Club in Columbus.
Senior Jadyn Kinkaid also finished in the top 10, placing ninth with a 96. Rounding out the LCC effort was Sidney Groene with a 106, Hope Swanson with a 108 and Delaney Hall with a 117.

LAUREL — Evan Haisch ran wild over the Plainview defense Friday, scoring five touchdowns to help the LCC Bears to an easy 50-14 win over the Pirates. Haisch scored the first three touchdowns for the Bears, finding pay-dirt from 25, 30 and 23 yards to stake the hosts to an early 20-8 lead. LCC built a 34-8 halftime advantage and turned Haisch loose for two more scores in the second half, capping a night that saw him rush for 268 yards on 27 carries with five touchdowns. Nolan Ohlrich and Evan Schmitt also found the end zone for LCC.
