HARTINGTON — The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan volleyball team used some home cooking with a couple of wins over two Mid State Conference teams to creep closer to .500 on the season as the Lady Trojans head into the meat of their 2025 campaign.
Cedar opened the triangular with a win over O’Neill 15-25, 25-17 and 25-21 then ended the night with a 25-23, 25-19 sweep of Wayne to move up to 9-11 on the year.
In the win over the Lady Blue Devils, the Lady Trojans used a balanced attack to sweep the match.
Addison Walter led the team with seven winners, Brynn Bernecker rifled six, Savannah Pick had five, Anisten Wortmann and Calley Stewart each had four and Ava Stewart sent three winners over the net.
Autumn Kathol and Kally Becker had 13 and 10 set assists respectively and Brynn Bernecker recorded 10 digs, Jocelyn Bottolfsen and Kathol had seven each and Wortmann had six.
Cedar Catholic was also very active defensively at the net with a dozen blocks at the net.
O’Neill won the opening set in the match with the Lady Trojans, but Cedar battled back to take the second set by the 25-17 score then took the match with the 25-21 score in the third race to 25.
Once again, the Lady Trojans used a balanced offensive threat led by Pick with six winners; Wortmann, Ava and Calley Stewart had five each and Bernecker and Walter had four apiece.
Kathol tipped up 13 set assists, Becker had 10 and Cedar stuffed 16 spikes at the net led by Bernecker with five.
The Lady Trojans were slated to travel to Battle Creek Sept. 30 before returning to the Werner Activities Center for a date with Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Oct. 2. The Lady Bluejays were 14-1 heading into this week’s action.
