PENDER — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears ran to the Pender Invitational title at Twin Creeks Golf Club north of Pender on Sept. 18.
LCC outraced Ponca 11-31 to grab the big plaque while Homer won the boys’ division of the race, also with 11 team points, finishing ahead of Oakland-Craig with 37.
Kate Tasler crossed the finish line second in the girls’ competition, covering the 5,000-meter course in 21-minutes, 27.62-seconds. Ponca’s Ava Brennan was the medalist in 20:36.79.
Faith Galvin finished fifth overall for the Lady Bears in 22:19.93, Leah Gould was seventh in 22:20.29, Addy Hoeppner was 19th in 23:28.33 and Abbie Brummels was 33rd in 25:24.47.
Gannon Pfister of Ponca won the boys’ race in 17:39.40 with Jaiden Anderson of Archangels Catholic second in 17:46.62.
Shane Langford was the top Bear coming in sixth with a time of 18:30.44.
Sebastian Van Drongelen and Owen Johnson were next in 21st and 22nd with times of 20:26.17 and 20:34.14 respectively, Hunter Mc-Ghee was 29th in 21:32.65 and Luke Jackson was 41st with a time of 22:57.68.
The Bears and Lady Bears are set to run in Crofton on Sept. 25.
