70 years of business celebrated at NNTC annual meeting

JACKSON — 189 voting members of the Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company Cooperative, representing all districts, attended the 68th Annual Meeting of Members and Directors at NNTC facilities in Jackson Sept. 18, with a total of 277 people attending the meeting.

The membership re-elected Jeff Hartung, Dixon (District #2); Jeff Hurrell, Craig (District #5); and LeRoy Dvorak as Vice President of the Board (Director at Large), each for a three-year term. The membership also elected a representative for District #7, Ed Siffring for a twoyear term. District #7 represents are Clarks, Ulysses and Staplehurst.

The opening for District #7 became available due to the passing of longtime board member, Tom Stranik, Morse Bluff, earlier this year.

NNTC General Manager Pat McElroy spoke to the crowd about the history of NNTC, since the company was founded 70 years ago, in 1955. McElroy credited the company’s founders including Howard Rasmussen, Frank Smith, D.L. Hartnett, S.H. Nelson and Carl Poulsen.

McElroy said NNTC serves 30 communities in northeast Nebraska, with a Hist being added very soon, Homer.

All attending members received a $70 bill credit in honor of NNTC’s 70th Anniversary.
