Where’s the beef?

Randolph Public Schools working to get all local beef for school lunches

RANDOLPH — One burger, three wins: Randolph Public Schools wants its lunch line to boost the local economy, put healthy protein on student plates, and tighten the school-community bond—and it’s pushing to reach 100% local beef to make it happen.

Randolph Public Schools wants every burger, taco and meatball on student trays to come from local producers—and the district is asking the community to help finish the drive to 100% local beef.

District leaders say the “Beef in Schools” program has already been a hit, connecting Randolph-area ranchers with the lunch line and serving high-quality beef to students.

Now the goal is to make the menu fully local, year-round.

To get there, the district has set aside $10,000 in its budget and is seeking another $15,000 from patrons to close the gap. Hitting the target will cover the roughly 3,000 pounds of beef the cafeteria needs each year.

Donations of any size are welcome—either monetary gifts or a portion-of-beef contribution from local producers.

Those interested can contact Superintendent Daryl Schrunk with questions or to arrange a donation.
