RANDOLPH—Randolph High School has two foreign exchange students this year enrolled as sophomores as part of the EF high school exchange program.
They are the only two exchange students in Cedar County this year. Juliane Rincke from Germany and Linda Baggio from Italy will spend the entire school year here with their host families.
Linda spent three weeks last summer in Dublin, Ireland as an EF exchange student and said it was a very enjoyable experience.
“We had morning lessons, then did various activities including sightseeing and going to the beach,” said Linda. “Dublin has a great beach.”
Following that experience she applied last September to go onto another learning adventure. She was accepted and told in May she would be going to Nebraska.
“I got here on July 25,” said Linda smiling, “But as soon as I found out I looked it up on a map and wasn’t really sure what it would be like—but so far I like it here.”
Linda’s host family is John and Denise Aschoff and she has a host sist er named Sarah.

RANDOLPH — The local Veterans Memorial Committee is proud to announce that the Randolph Area Veterans Memorial continues to progress.
The next phase is engraving the granite pillars with the names of area veterans who have been honorably discharged from service and who consider the Randolph area, either past or present, their home.
There is no cost to have your or a loved one’s name on the memorial and we want everyone to be included.
The committee has compiled this list of names from records at the Cedar and Pierce County Veterans Services offices as well as some other sources.
