1950: New addition planned at Sinclair gas station

Sept. 19, 1940

RANDOLPH - Woodrow Miller of Colton, Calif., was in Randolph last Friday arranging for the shipment of ten tons of honey to California from the Kuhl Apiaries, located southeast of Randolph.

During the past number of years the Kuhl Apiaries have been building up their stock until they now have one of the largest, if not the largest, Apiaries in Northeast Nebraska.

The produced grades that are now being made by the Kuhl Apiaries is of the very highest quality, so much in fact that his company is much interested in this section of the country as a permanent location for Apiaries.

The Kuhl brothers have a great number of hives stationed throughout the Randolph vicinity, and clover fields which makes the best type of honey produced. Mr. Miller gave a few samples of honey produced in the orange groves of California although residents here liked this honey, he states that it hasn’t the fine quality or popularity as does the cloverproduced honey.

In order to carry on the work in an efficient manner the Kuhl Apiaries employ eight men to prepare the honey for shipment to the coast.

RANDOLPH - New equipment and the building of a fine new brick addition will give the local Sinclair Station a much better place to serve its customers.

The new building is being constructed just west of the present station, to be erected as an addition, and will be 26 by 27 feet. Inside will be located a hoist and grease rack, and ample room for washing, and other inside repair jobs. Mr. Hyatt states that the new building will be constructed of brick with a firm cement foundation.
