Law Log July 1: Caller reports he is following a vehicle that was driving in the wrong lane on Highway 20. "We met a truck and I had to hit the brakes and the trucker had to swerve to avoid being hit head on." Hartington Fire Department issued a burn permit for Top Crop.

Wynot woman calls for medical attention. Wynot ambulance is dispatched Man calls to report a riser pipe is spilling a lot of water onto Highway 121.

Hartington woman called to say she reported her cat missing last week. "This lady said she saw my cat and described it to a 'T'. She let me set out a live trap at her place. However, I caught a calico cat and my cat is black and white and skinny. This cat was fat. She told me to just take that cat home instead. I told her I didn't want that cat. She got mad at me, so now I have a suspicion that she has my cat and now she is avoiding me. I am wondering if there is away to see if she has my cat." Dispatcher told her they would not be able to help. Hartington gas station reported a gas drive o.

Man calls concerned about his wife's mental state and is concerned she might be suicidal.

July 2: Burn permit Issued by Randolph Fire Department to Kelly Gubbels.

Laurel woman is sick and throwing up and wants medical attention. Dispatcher pages out an ambulance.

911 call is made by mistake.

Laurel woman calls for assistance. She needs someone to help her get up.

Laurel man calls about a property dispute with his neighbor.

Woman calls to say she hit a guard rail on the Crest Road near the dam and damaged several poles. O$cer arrived to investigate and she was cited for careless driving.

July 3: Woman called to notify Sheri's Department that her mom passed away over night.

Deputy radios in to ask dispatcher to contact Cedar Knox Public Power. He spotted a dead raccoon hanging o of a transformer.

Crofton ambulance paged out for a six year-old boy having seizures.

Man called to report that a white truck ''flew by my house going at least 45 miles per hour if not more. He blew the stop sign. There were little kids out riding bikes. Luckily, they were not at that intersection at that time, otherwise he would have killed them. He has done this before.'' Randolph nursing home calls to ask for an ambulance for an elderly woman who fell.

Hartington man asks for an ambulance for his wife, who is having chest pains.

July 4: Dispatcher receives an accidental 911 call.

Man called to express concerns about a co-worker. He believes she was beaten up by her husband.

Driver on Highway 81 called to report an erratic driver and a possible DWI case. ''We are following what we think is a very intoxicated driver. They drive 35 mph, then go up to 90 and are all over the road, almost hitting cars head on.'' A 911 call comes in from a woman who was being chased by two dogs by the dam. The owners did get control of their dogs and no one was hurt, though. "I want to press charges for them scaring me and my dog. They are leaving now because they know I called the cops. Woman called concerned about her friend, who had called her concerned that her husband may have beaten her and is threatening to do more.

July 5: Laurel woman calls to report her neighbors are shooting fireworks o aimed at her garage.

Man calls to report there is a pick up truck in the ditch south of Hartington. He is unsure if anyone is in it. Several other calls come in about the vehicle. O$cer investigates and finds no one in the vehicle, but the vehicle's air bags have been deployed and several fence posts were down.

Woman called to ask if she could legally shoot o fireworks in Laurel. Dispatcher said she would need to check the city ordinances. "That's OK. I will just shoot them o and if I get in trouble, I get in trouble." Laurel woman called to say someone threw mortar shells into their yard by their house. Driver called about a vehicle that just passed the Highway 84, Highway 81 intersection. "He can't stay in his lane and has almost gone head on with multiple vehicles." Woman called concerned about a vehicle she feels "has been stalking our place for the last two weeks, now." Man called to say there are people parking on the Meridian Bridge and in the median.

Man called to report a dead deer in the middle of the road on Highway 81. Several other calls come in about this, as well.

July 6: Hartington woman called to report she fell, injuring her arm and shoulder. She can't get up and needs medical attention. An ambulance was dispatched.

Woman called from Laurel to say a pick up truck is parked sideways on the road by Dollar General. O$cer investigates. The vehicle had been parked at Dollar General but slipped out of gear and rolled into the street. The situation has been resolved.
