Lady Bears win Stanton Invitational golf tournament

STANTON - The Stanton Invitational golf tournament was held Sept. 4 at Elkhorn Acres Golf Club and after falling just short of a team title this season, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears broke through with the title by four strokes over Wayne.

The Lady Bears had four golfers in the top 10 of the tournament with the fifth golfer in the top 20.

Holly Patefield used an 18-hole total of 101 to take fourth place in the event, Kennedy Hall was one shot behind her teammate to end up sixth, Alyza Leonard carded a 106 for eighth and Harper Bruning shot a 108 which put her in 10th.

Wayne’s Carli Canham was the medalist after firing a 91, seven strokes in front of Madelynn Bohnet of South Sioux City.

Danca Gould posted a 117 for the Lady Bears which put her in 19th place. Playing for the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge JV team were Stella Kock (123/23rd), Mavis Jonas (124/24th) and Tanya Miranda (128/33rd).

LCC will be back in action at the Pierce Invitational on Sept. 13 then host a triangular Sept. 16 with Pender and Tri County Northeast.
